NEW CONTRACTOR LICENSE PROVISIONS FOR U.S. MILITARY VETERANS

On July 1 2016, new provisions will go into effect that will assist U.S. military veterans applying for licensure. The new provisions will allow the veterans’ experience gained in the military to be used toward the contractor’s licensure requirements. Up to three years of military experience can be applied to the experience requirements of the license.

The new application forms will be posted on July 1, 2016. These new provisions are for all contracting licenses, including construction and electrical. More information will be forthcoming as to the backup documentation required to apply via this method.

The Construction Industry Licensing Board and the Electrical Contractors’ Licensing Board are responsible for licensing and regulating the construction industry and electrical contractors. These boards meet regularly and engage in rulemaking to implement current and new provisions set forth in its statutes.
