COMPUTER BASED TESTING

Since November of 2012, the DBPR has slowly moved select trade exams to computer based testing. This allows applicants to schedule their exams quickly and also offers a greater availability for locations at which an applicant can take them. The DBPR has a contracted vendor, Pearson Vue, who administers the exams daily.

To see a full list of trade exams that have been moved to computer-based testing, please visit the DBPR’s website here and scroll down to the section “Construction Examination”. This will detail out exactly which trades have switched to computer based and what steps you will need to take to sign-up for your exam. In addition to the trades listed above, the business and finance portion is always available through Pearson Vue.

Although the DBPR has switched several of the trade exams to computer based, for now, there are still a handful of trades that will stick to a paper and pencil exam due to the nature of the trade (drawing up construction plans, etc.) The paper and pencil exams are for the following trades: General, Building, and Residential Contractors, Air A, Mechanical, and Plumbing.

If you have any questions regarding any of the above information, your team at Licenses, Etc. would be happy to assist you and guide you in the right direction!
