Do You Need to Protect Your Job Site with Cameras?

A job site is full of expensive tools and machines. At the end of the day, the site is left alone and could be vulnerable to theft. Some contractors decide to install security cameras on the site to keep potential thieves at bay. Here are some reasons to consider installing cameras on your job site:

  • Any equipment lost from ladders and power tools to generators and air compressors could be easily stolen. Regardless of how expensive, it’s a pain to replace items and could set a project back.
  • On-site metals are valuable and can be a target.
  • If a thief sees a camera, he/she may think twice about taking anything from your site. Even if you place fake cameras with signs, this may worry a potential thief and keep them away.
  • Cameras can provide you with evidence to show the police as they investigate stolen items. You want a camera that provides clear video and images, so police will have an easier time identifying clothing and faces. Look for cameras that can capture high-definition pictures and videos and that can operate at night with infrared lighting.
  • The more cameras you have, the more likely you will deter a thief and the more likely you can catch that thief, as well.

Have you used a camera on a job site before? Do you know anyone that had success using a camera? Hopefully, you never truly need to use one, but it’s smart to have them as a proactive, preventive tool.
