  1. To get a contractor license in Georgia, do you have to have a minimum net worth? 
  1. In Georgia, a general contractor needs to have a minimum net worth of $150,000. For a general contractor limited tier, he/she needs to have a minimum net worth of $25,000. If you apply as the qualifying agent, the net worth is under the business name. If you are below a general contractor level, you do not need a net worth.  
  1. Can someone else take the contractor license exam for you? 
  1. If you are looking to perform any construction work, you need to be the one to take and pass the exam.  
  1. Can you get a contractor’s license with a felony on your record? 
  1. Yes, you can get a contractor’s license with a felony on your record. You will answer truthfully about your criminal background on your application. License applications require a background check, and you will also need to do fingerprints.
