  1. Can you use experience from another state for your Florida contractor license application? 
  1. Yes, your experience can be from anywhere in the United States. All your experience should be documented.  
  1. Is continuing education required? 
  1. In order to maintain your Florida contractor license, you must complete a continuing education course every two years. Before August 31 of every even year, you must complete 14 hours of continuing education. Your continuing education provider needs to be approved by the Construction Industry Licensing Board.  
  1. Are books for the exams available as PDFs? 
  1. Some licenses do have books that have been made into a PDF format. You must print the PDF out for testing.  
  1. Can a general contractor work on roofing? 
  1. In Florida, a general contractor can only do roofing work with his/her own employees. A general contractor can also do warranty work on the roofing system of properties he/she has built. However, to do roofing in Florida, a person need’s a roofing contractor’s license, which allows you to work on a roof regardless if its new, or a repair, commercial residential, etc.
